There is another scam you should be aware of. The Better Business Bureau warns of a scam involving texts, or voicemails warning of “fraudulent activity on your account.”
The scammer will call or text, asking you to call a number you’re not likey to recognize. They next try to rattle you, so you’ll act on impulse. The scammer tells you there’s fraudulent activity on your account and you need to act immediately.
This is followed by requests for personal information, social security number, account numbers, pin numbers. Don’t give out this information over the phone! Hang up and call your financial institution on the number you normally use to contact them.
