10 O’Clock News & Notes: March 11th, 2019

Posted by clintdomingue on March 11, 2019 in Blogs

Every Monday-Friday at 10 pm on 106.3 Radio Lafayette, we give you a listen to some of the freshest tracks from your favorite artists with the 10 O’Clock News! In case you missed it, here are some quick hits of new music that we played for you on March 11th.

The Killers – Land of the Free

The group doesn’t typically have political statements in their music and this is a big departure from the disco-infused album “Wonderful Wonderful”. The music video directed by filmmaker and recent Academy Award Winner Spike Lee definitely brings home the message of the song. There’s nothing official about a new album for the group, but they have said they could have a new one out before the year wraps up.

Tom Petty – For Real

It’s great to see that even more unreleased tracks from the vault of the late, great Tom Petty is being released to the public. The new single is a part of a compilation that spans his entire iconic career and was originally recorded back in 2000 when Petty and the Heartbreakers went to record a new version of “Surrender”. The appropriately named “The Best of Everything” was just released and new fans of the Gainesville native can enjoy some of the greatest hits over his career thanks to this collection.

Hozier – Movement

Hozier proved that five years was well worth the wait with this song along with “Nina Cried Power” showing that he wasn’t a one-hit wonder. In fact, his new album “Wasteland Baby!” debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. I think it’s safe to say there’s no sophomore slump for the 28-year-old.

James Bay – Peer Pressure

James Bay’s new track is climbing up the charts and one person he has to thank for that is without a doubt Julia Michaels who co-wrote the song with him. That name may not seem familiar to you, but there’s no doubt you’ve heard a song written by the 25-year-old at one point or another as she’s penned tracks for artists like Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban, and Ed Sheeran. Meanwhile, James Bay is getting ready for a late night TV appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday night.
