Hunter deBlanc Sets Sail On His Next Chapter With ‘Sydney’

Our favorite local “Piano Pop/Indie Rock” artist, Hunter deBlanc, has been on quite a journey these last few years… he recently posted a new music video for his “Australian inspired” single ‘Sydney’ on his Facebook page with a statement about his experiences playing on a cruise ship and what this newly released song means to him. Check out what Hunter had to say…

“Sydney is about my experience out on the cruise ships. I’ve been playing as a piano bar entertainer for the past 10 years, and every night I play the Sweet Caroline, Bohemian Rhapsody, Piano Man, Benny & the Jets, and any and every song anyone requests for 10 years. After a while, it makes you lose your love for music. Coming out to Australia rejuvenated my love for music, as there are so many Aussie artists that never made it out from down under. Another thing that happens on the ships is excessive drinking and alcoholism. You have to facilitate a party every night, and most times in order to be on the same wavelength as the passengers, you need to have a drink or two. This is extremely hard to for every night for 6 whole months. Sydney is ultimately about how my girlfriend got to come on board in the middle of my first contract. It was right at my breaking point, and it was exactly what we both needed at the time. We sailed out by the Opera House, which is undeniably one of the most beautiful sail-aways in the entire world. I started writing this song at that time… I’ve now officially resigned from the ships to pursue these originals, as it is time to start the next chapter of my musical journey. I can’t wait to see everyone out there on tour.”
