Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!!
BTW, this review is for season 8 episodes, so…Spoilers!!
So, this episode, although they’re still not fighting, they are showing more of the preparation. There are some more reunions, and the “trial” for Jamie Lannister, and some first time “unions” too.
Jamie’s trial was interesting, it looked like it might not go his way for a moment, like when Bran quoted Jamie when he’d pushed him out of the window, “The things I do for love”, but there came Brianne to Jamie’s rescue. Brianne’s appeal to Sansa was genuine, but I was surprised that Danerys let Sansa’s decision stand like it was the final word.
My friends, as well as some media outlets like Nerdist, predicted that there would be a relationship between Arya and Gendry. I couldn’t think of anything but what Bran said last episode “We don’t have time for this”, but, it’s Arya’s first time, and it’s not like she needs to practice killing or anything. So I guess, she does have time for this. One of my favorite lines from Gay of Thrones (The Funny or Die review) is “I guess the last thing she had on her list was to kill some D”. Btw, if you haven’t seen Gay of Thrones yet, where you been? and WATCH DAT!! I’m glad Arya is an empowered woman, made a decision about what she wanted and went for it, and I understand their all facing their dead and perhaps their own dead at sunrise, I just wish she hadn’t looked so sad afterwards.
Jorah’s conversation with Lyanna Mormont was a great moment. You know you can’t tame a bear Jorah, even if she’s tiny. Thankfully, he wised up and went tell Dany two awesome pieces of advice about Tyrion and Sansa.
Tyrion should have known about Cersei and not counted on her, of course, but one can be forgiven for believing even Cersei would understand the gravity of their situation. And as we discussed last time, I still don’t understand Cersei’s motives.
And Jorah’s suggestion to talk to Sansa, while I’m not certain where it came from, it was great advice. And as for Sansa’s question, “What about the North?”, I get it, but once again, I’m quoting Bran, “We don’t have time for this”.
If you know me at all, my 2 favorite characters are pretty easy to guess, Arya and Brianne. So seeing Brianne knighted was pretty amazing, I still don’t care for Jamie, so him being the knight-er made no difference to me. I was proud for my girl, one of the most bad-ass fighters in the show, getting some of the recognition she deserves. And if they survive, she can knight Pod. I hate that her moment of happiness pretty much convinces me she’ll die. But I have a method, I am expecting everyone to die, that way if we’re left with anyone alive, as long as it’s not just Cersei, then I’ll be ok.
Speaking of Poddrick, OMG that song!!! If you weren’t able to hear it on Under the Covers this Monday with Brigette Rose, the only person I think might sing that song better than Pod, is Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, so they covered it, and you have to see this. The way the lyrics line up with the video and the way I feel about this story, it’s unbelievable. See that video below.
This review isn’t over until I vent about how late in the episode Jon waited to tell Dany he’s really Aegon. I mean come on, right before the dang army of the Dead show up, that’s a good time to you Jon? Dang dude, you know nothing.
The next episode is gearing up to be epic, with a longer battle sequence than Lord of the Rings. One does not simply walk into MorDorne? Watch for more review after that awesomeness!
