Balk the Difference in Cajuns Loss to Texas State

Posted by clintdomingue on April 27, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

It’s not often a baseball game is determined by a balk, but that’s exactly what happened on Saturday afternoon with the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns losing their sixth straight 3-2 to Texas State.

How It Happened:

The Bobcats got on the board in the top of the second when Dalton Shuffield hit an RBI single to right center. That was followed up by an RBI single from Ryan Newman to make it 2-0.

The Ragin Cajuns responded though in the bottom frame with an RBI triple from Orynn Veillon followed up by an RBI single from Handsome Monica to even things up.

It stayed knotted up at two runs apiece until the fourth when John Wuthrich scored on a balk and that was all Texas State needed to win the series.

Big Number: 11

The Cajuns bats looked good in the second inning, but outside of that, it was another rough afternoon for the most part with the Cajuns striking out 11 times.

Player of the Game: Hunter McMahon

The Bobcats pitcher threw a complete game and struck out 11, allowing two runs off of seven hits on the way to his fifth win of the season. Don’t be surprised if he’s Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week.

Next Up: Sunday vs Texas State; First Pitch 1 pm
