Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!! Spoilers!!
BTW, this review is for season 8 episodes, so…Spoilers!! Also, NSFW!
So in the beginning of E4, we gave a farewell to the characters we lost in the last episode, Jorah, Lyanna Mormont, Edd, and Theon. Even with the Night King gone, they felt the need to burn the bodies. Then we get some almost happy moments of celebration, but are quickly reminded that there’s still a bunch of shit going down.
Sansa and Dany are still bickering, and now that Jon and Dany know who Jon is, Aegon Targaryn, Dany feels the only way to keep any peace is for Jon to never tell his sisters who he is. But when he meets Arya, Sansa and Bran in the Godswood, he can’t help himself once again from doing the honorable thing and he has them swear to secrecy he has Bran tell them who he is.
Then Sansa can’t help herself from being either like Cersei and/or Littlefinger and she likely tells Tyrion who Jon is too, and maybe sends word to Cersei.
Gendry gets named by Dany the Lord of Storm’s End, the Baratheon family castle. When he goes to tell Arya of his good fortune and propose that she become his Lady, she informs him, that’s not her. And then she rides off with the Hound to check off some more names off her list.
So in the meantime, Dany heads back to Dragonstone, but on the way, freakin Euron shows up on his fleet, armed with dragon spear gun things, and takes out another one of Dany’s dragons, Rhaegar, gets pierced by 3 spears and plunges into the sea. You have almost no time to react as Dany is still in danger and her navy is decimated before her eyes. Tyrion, Missandei and Grey Worm have to abandon ship to live, and when they make it to shore, Missandei is missing.
I know Homegrown artist Dwight Roy of Dwight James & The Royals was devastated this episode. He performed his song Missandei at Jazz Fest last weekend. Cersei has Missandei and when Dany, Grey Worm, Tyrion and a small troop of her remaining soldiers arrive at the gates of King’s Landing, Missandei is bound as The Zombie Mountain looms behind her. After some talk with Tyrion, which might as well be Tyrion talking to a wall, because Cersei ain’t hearing shit from anybody. So Cersei ignores everything and tells Missandei to say her final words. Missandei knows these words will be the last thing that Dany and Grey Worm hear from her, and right before Zombie Mountain chops her head off, she shouts something very meaningful, “Dracarys”. Saying something like, burn them all down.
There was something in the after-show stated by one of the producers that I’d like to talk about. Talking about Drogon being at the meeting at King’s Landing after the death of Rheagar, the producer states that Drogon is far off, because he’s vulnerable, but then he corrects himself to say, “as far as Dany knows, he’s vulnerable”. It’s not part of the show, but I hope there’s something to that “mis-statement”. Because no matter how hard and long Dany has fought to be on the Iron Throne, things aren’t looking great for that right now.
There’s also something else that I have to mention, if you didn’t see all the memes yet, I have to talk about the “Starbucks” cup. About 17 minutes in, in front of Dany, on the table at Winterfell, there is a coffee/tea cup, right there on the table in front of her. HBO says Emilia Clarke had ordered an herbal tea, understandable for an actress working during winter in a place called Winterfell.
Only 2 more episodes, I can’t believe it will all be over soon. Check back next week for my review of S8E5, here’s the preview”
