What a great finale for Colbert’s first late-show! He had his new house band Jon Batiste and Stay Human team-up with an all-star team consisting of Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes, Buddy Guy, Aloe Blacc, Derek Trucks, Ben Folds, Kyle Resnick, Paul Janeway from St. Paul & The Broken Bones and the fantastic Mavis Staples, among (somehow) many others, with a rousing rendition of Sly & the Family Stone’s “Everyday People.” I’m looking forward to how Colbert transitions into his new Late Night gig.
