It’s the middle of the week and you’re feeling that midweek malaise so why not spice it up with a look at what’s new in the world of music? Welcome to 106.3’s New Music Wednesdays, a weekly look at some of the new music we’re spinning here on Acadiana’s home for alternative as well as new albums that are dropping this week.
Caamp – “Believe”
The Ohio-based group is gearing up for their third album and looking to capitalize off of the success of their 2019 album By & By that featured their number one single “Peach Fuzz”. The first single off of their album “Believe” is one of many tracks on the upcoming album “Lavender Days” is based on lead singer Taylor Meier’s experience of losing a great love, a great dog, his livelihood, and his sanity during the pandemic.
The album is set to be released on June 24th.
The Killers “The Getting By II“
The Killers have been cranking out hit after hit after hit over the years and their latest is a bonus track as part of the deluxe edition of their seventh album “Pressure Machine”, which was released on March 26th. It’s one of four songs that are variations of the track “The Getting By” with this version featuring rising indie band Lucius.
New Albums Dropping This Week
Lucius “Second Nature“, April 8th – Speaking of Lucius, their third album with Mom + Pop Records will be released on April 8th. The album features their big single “Next to Normal”.
Andy Frasco & the U.N. “Wash, Rinse, Repeat”, April 8th – One of the featured acts for Downtown Rising in June, is more than ready to get back on the road and perform live with the title track focusing in on what he described as a “PTSD of being in your house and alone with your thoughts for too long.”
Jack White “Fear of the Dawn” April 8th – The former frontman for The White Stripes kept pretty busy during the pandemic, writing enough material for not one, but two albums, the first of which drops this Friday. The second, which is titled “Entering Heaven Alive”, will hit record stores on July 22nd.
