Welcome everyone to my review of the weekend that was in sports! While there were other great moments, the only thing that matters is what happened on Sunday night.
The Big Game: Greatest Ever?
I challenge you to name a better Super Bowl game (Saints Super Bowl doesn’t count.) The first ever overtime game in Super Bowl history combined with the incredible fourth quarter of Tom Brady made Saints fans the happiest since they won it back in 2010.
I’m not a Patriots fan in any way and I don’t endorse the cheating that went on two years ago, but this just seems like a slap in the face to the NFL. You punish Brady for cheating and he wins the Super Bowl after being suspended for four games. Now the media will crown Brady as the greatest of all time and Matt Ryan stays as the guy who can’t win when it matters the most. It was still one of the greatest games of all time and proved why you can’t count out any team.
Best Commericals
While most of the commericals were throwing ALL THE SHADE towards a certain someone, there were quite a few that deviated from that rhetoric and knocked it out of the park.
One of my personal favorites was the Spud McKenzie return. I don’t drink, but I understand how much of an advertising icon that dog was and still is. It was a really funny commercial and just in time for the 30th anniversary of his original commercial. Still would’ve liked a Slurms McKenzie reference.
Lighter Side of Sports: Super Snark Sunday
As a Louisiana native, I’ve grown to hate the Atlanta Falcons with a passion. In the same vein, I have hated the amount of coverage the New England Patriots have gotten over the last few years and this year’s game was a perfect chance to sit back and enjoy the amount of snark coming through my Twitter feed. Here’s a few of the greats.
