I recently heard from my friend Caitlin at EcoCajun.com that the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Recycling Office has reported an increase in unacceptable items placed in recycling bins around the parish. She pointed to me a great article at The Advertiser that will help you to remember the following items that are not accepted through the recycling program:
- Garbage (food and liquid waste, including containers with food residue, such as pizza boxes)
- Yard waste
- Big items such as wood, plastic totes, metal, etc.
- Glass
- Plastics labeled No. 3 to No. 7, including Styrofoam
- Hoses, wires, chains, etc.
- Textiles (clothing or linen)
