LAFAYETTE, LA
Social Entertainment and Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors today announced that the popular annual Independence Day event ‘Uncle Sam’s Jam’ will not take place this year because of growing concerns over community spread of COVID-19 in Lafayette Parish.
The event organizers considered hosting a scaled-down version of Uncle Sam’s Jam this year, with all COVID-19 safety measures in place.
However, with the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the community and with the goal to minimize the spread of the virus in Lafayette Parish, event organizers felt that hosting the event this year is not worth taking the potential risks.
“We brought ‘Uncle Sam’s Jam’ to Parc International, Downtown Lafayette for the last 6 years. It is with a heavy heart that we announce we won’t be hosting the 7thAnnual Uncle Sam’s Jam this year.
The health and safety of our community is our first priority”, says Darren Domingue, owner of Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors.
Uncle Sam’s Jam is an annual 4th of July celebration in the heart of Downtown Lafayette, produced by Social Entertainment and presented by Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors.
Each year, the event features live music, pop-up vendors, a spectacular fireworks show and is visited by a few thousand event-goers from Lafayette and surrounding areas.
