Another Brick and Mortar Store Set To Close in Lafayette

Posted by dylanguillory on April 1, 2019 in Featured, Latest News

Seems like 2019 will be the year for brick and mortar stores to shut their doors in Acadiana.

StoryBlocks

Friday (3/29) was the final day of business for the Northside Walmart Super Center on the Evangeline Throughway. We’ve also reported on Payless Family Shoes closing their doors later in the year.

The Acadiana Advocate is reporting the two Lafayette locations of Stage Department stores will close in January of 2020. According to a company spokesperson, Stage continues to close stores that are underperforming in their portfolio. The Stage Stores in Acadiana are located at 4407 Ambassador Caffery Parkway and 537 Bertrand Drive.

Stage has shut the doors on several locations nationwide and some of the closed stores have been rebranded and reopened as Goodman’s which is a discounted department store. It is unclear if any of the Lafayette locations will be rebranded.

The dismissed employees at the two current locations will be offered positions at other stores or will have the option of a severance package once the store closes.
Acadiana has other locations of Stage Stores in Eunice, Opelousas, Crowley, Abbeville and New Iberia.
