Beware Bogus Parking Tickets

Advancements in technology bring new ways for scammers to cheat you out of your money. One of the latest is a parking ticket scam. Scammers will use a handheld printer to make fake, official-looking parking tickets & place them on potential victims’ windshields.

Don’t be fooled! The scam artist will usually ask for payment online, or via Paypal. If you pay, not only will the trickster have your money but also they will have access to personal information that opens you to further victimization. In a recently reported case, an individual paid $15 to park in a garage & placed the receipt on their dashboard. Scammers placed a fake $56 dollar ticket on the windshield, claiming the receipt wasn’t visible.

The Better Business Bureau recommends looking online for the website before paying. Use a credit (not debit) card to pay. That way, you’re not liable for fraudulent charges.
