This was a pretty great weekend for football! Not necessarily if you’re a fan of the Saints, but if you’re a fan of football like I am, it was pretty awesome. From high school to the pros, it was a great weekend full of great moments!
High School: Carencro Wins In A Thriller
This was a great finish and overall entertaining Friday night matchup between the Golden Bears and the Wreckin Rams. The best part of it all had to be the final play of the game a hail mary pass from Carl Randall that connected for the win over a longtime rival. It was made even better by Ben Love and Chet Yoder on the call over on our sister station Mustang 107.1! A great start to what would shape up to be a great weekend.
College: NEVER SCHEDULE NORTH DAKOTA STATE
North Dakota State has been one of the best in the world of FCS football. For the uninitiated, FCS football is for the smaller universities to play in rather than in conferences like the SEC, Big Ten, and the like. they have won multiple national titles in the last few seasons and have made life miserable for this power five schools they’ve faced as of late. Iowa was the latest victim of this trend and were almost able to do it after a missed two point conversion, but the Bisons defense shut things down and gave them a chance to pull of another upset.
NFL: Denver’s Defense Wins
The Denver Broncos without Peyton Manning look like a different team, but at the same time they look the same as they did in the Super Bowl. The defense has been this team’s saving grace and if not for certain player’s performances, they could be 0-2 with their less than stellar QB. Aqib Talib has one of the best names in football and has to be the best in terms of just getting the ball and not letting anything stop him from getting into the endzone as he had his ninth pick six of his career. They need to solidify their performance offensively, but at the end of the day 2-0 is a lot better than being 0-2 like the New Orleans Saints are.
