Welcome everyone to my review of the weekend that was in the world of sports! There were a ton of memorable moments in sports, especially in the world of pro football.
College Hoops: Foul Night at the Cajundome
While the end result was a loss for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, it was a very entertaining game between two of the best teams in the Sun Belt Conference. While many fans will look back at this one with contempt for the referees, I’d say that you have to give the Cajuns some credit for staying in this game. If anything, they made Georgia Southern work hard for that win.
NBA: Harden Cooking Up a Triple Double
The world of NBA is something else in 2017. The triple-double stat, which seemed impossible to get consistently unless you’re playing a game of NBA 2K17, is becoming a regularity for some players like the Houston Rockets James Harden and OKC’s Russell Westbrook. This Vine alone shows that despite how obvious it looks as to who will be in the NBA Finals around June, we are in a golden age of pro basketball with the amount of playmakers there are in the association.
NFL: Playoffs Actually Get Good
Last weekend was the absolute worst when it came to playoff games. Snoozefests all the way around and made the College Football Playoff semifinals seem entertaining. Then came Sunday afternoon with the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. The final two minutes alone made this an instant classic with Mason Crosby getting the game-winning field goal through the uprights. If there’s one thing I love it’s competitive ballgames and this was another one for the ages. It also makes several people in Louisiana happy because there are a lot fans that don’t like Dallas.
Lighter Side: Little JJ and the WWE
I’m so excited that Wrestlemania is coming back to New Orleans that I want to order my tickets now. That won’t be happening and it hasn’t dulled my excitement, but it was what happened at the press conference that blew me away. Everybody’s favorite Saints fan/reporter/all around funny guy Jarrius Robertson was a part of the festivities and really showed his comedy chops with some of the larger than life characters in the WWE. The best part though is when he talks to the Miz about his favorite wrestlers. It makes me laugh every time simply because of the facial expressions coming from the former reality star-turned WWE superstar. Don’t be surprised if Little JJ is a big part of next year’s Wrestlemania as a host or a backstage segment.
