As many of you know, I’m a big fan of football on all levels. From High School to the Pros, I enjoy watching, listening, and over-analyzing the performance on the field. I’ve done previews for the Cajuns, Tigers and Saints on our sister station 103.7 the Game so if you want a more in-depth look into those games and I’ll look into other games that have me interested heading into the weekend.
High School: Acadiana vs Carencro
Full disclosure: I went to Carencro back when the Golden Bears played in 3-5A and these two teams determined who would walk away with the crown. The rivalry is real and after Acadiana suffered a tough loss to Ponchatoula last week so expect them to be angry and looking for a win over their crosstown rivals.
College: Florida State vs Louisville
One of my favorite players to watch that I didn’t expect to break out in 2016 has to be Louisville’s QB Lamar Jackson. He has been all over the place with a lot of touchdowns against the likes of Syracuse and Charlotte both through the air and on the ground. It’s also the first top 10 matchup of the season with three Heisman hopefuls on the field. It’s also one of the first matchups on Saturday with kickoff set for 11 am. What better way to kickstart your Saturday morning!
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals vs Pittsburgh Steelers
It’s something about watching division rivals that makes me excited especially this early in the season. This is a very different matchup as it seems that they genuinely hate each other especially after what happened in the playoffs last season. If that game is as hard hitting as that one, it should be marked near the top of what looks to be a lackluster week outside of that and New Orleans taking on the Giants.
