Welcome everyone to another edition of my weekend preview of the world in sports! The year may be ending this weekend, but the year in sports is going out in style.
College Football: LSU vs Louisville
Yes the College Football Playoff will be going on the same night, but this is the perfect way to start off your New Year’s Eve with the top ranked offense and Heisman winner Lamar Jackson taking on a top level defense with Dave Aranda at the helm. It’s also the official start of the Coach O era and a big showcase for sophomore running back Derrius Guice.
College Hoops: Cajuns On the 2
It’s not too often that the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns are on national TV, especially when it comes to Bob Marlin’s squad. That will be the case on Monday when they take on Arkansas Little Rock and it will be on ESPN2. This will be a potential preview of what’s to come in the Sun Belt tournament as both teams have started out very strong in nonconference play. If you have a chance to check them out on TV, I’d highly recommend it, besides there’s no Monday Night Football so what sports are you going to watch that night?
Pro Football: Giants vs Redskins
Week 17 is the end of the road for most teams and this one will have everything on the line because Washington is in a must win situation and the Giants are trying to improve their postseason seeding. If there’s any other interesting matchups in the NFL, I challenge you to find it.
MMA: UFC 207
I don’t normally preview the world of MMA, but tonight’s big card is definitely worth talking about. The card is headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey taking on Amanda Nunes for the Women’s Bantamweight championship. The amount of hype behind this fight is insane and the rest of the card is serviceable with the Men’s Bantamweight title up for grabs as well. Even if you’re a casual MMA fan, this is one card you need to check out.
