The weather outside is projected to be less than delightful with some rain coming through the Acadiana area (Stay away from the Tigue). That being said, there’s still some great games going down as we begin to delve into the madness of March.
College Hoops 101: Championship Weekend
There’s tons of conference championships set to be determined on Saturday and early Sunday afternoon. There’s a few that you need to keep an eye on when it gets closer to Selection Sunday.
SEC: The SEC tournament seems to be set for a collision course between Kentucky and Florida for the tourney title and a higher seed in the Big Dance.
ACC: Friday night’s game between Duke and UNC will be an instant classic that you need to check out on the mothership with tipoff set for 6 pm. If you’re listening to LCA Knights basketball on Friday, that game should end before this one tips off so set a DVR reminder so you don’t forget about a big game on Friday night.
Sun Belt: #FunBelt gonna #FunBelt especially in the Sun Belt conference tournament. The Cajuns are literally hotter than a cayenne pepper right now with seven straight wins. They have a game on Friday against Georgia State that you will need to check out and if they win, I’m wanting to see them in the finals against UT Arlington after they had a gem of a game last Saturday. Also, a Cajuns win would make me instantly regret not applying for media credentials.
College Basketball 201: Bracketology
I’m not the expert when it comes to the world of college basketball and bracketology (there’s not enough hours in the day when I’m keeping tabs on a lot of the news and views of the NFL and college sports worlds. Luckily, I have a good friend in the media world that I got in touch with earlier this week to talk about bracketology and if I’m crazy thinking that UT Arlington could make an early exit and still make the Big Dance. Don’t worry there’s no other courses in college hoops! Just keep an eye on the big games this weekend and maybe watch Selection Sunday. Hopefully some rebel leaks the bracket while it takes them 30 minutes they get to the top four seeds!
