Welcome back after a lengthy hiatus to my sports weekend preview! High school football is over but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an interesting matchup in the Acadiana area you need to keep tabs on.
High School: LCA vs Carencro
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen from the LCA Knights the last two seasons. And this is the matchup that I’ve been looking forward to the most when I first saw the brackets released for the 2nd annual LCA Showcase at the Plex. And a big reason why it’s on the list is if you are unable to make it to the Plex tonight, then you can enjoy listening to Ben Love on the call right here on 106.3 Radio Lafayette.
College: New Orleans Bowl
How can the Ragin Cajuns matchup against Southern Miss be the must watch game of the opening weekend of bowl season? I’ve been amped up about this one since it was announced and because I’m actually going to be at the game! I haven’t been to any of the previous bowl game so hopefully I don’t bring any bad vibes to the Cajuns this weekend. That being said, I’m expecting a really good game between these two.
Pro: Steelers vs Bengals
This is a big AFC matchup between two teams who just plain don’t like each other. The rivalry hit another level last season during the playoffs with some hard hits throughout. Cincy isn’t looking good in terms of their records, but expect the Bengals to step up and try and play spoiler in a tight AFC North race.
