Welcome everyone to my review of the weekend that was in the world of sports! It was pretty wild especially when it comes to the Daytona 500!

Always a bridesmaid, finally a bride. The storied career of Kurt Busch had been highlighted as coming very close to winning the Daytona 500, but came up just short. During Sunday’s race he made one last big push to come away with his first win at the motor speedway and made history doing so winning the race after only leading for one lap.
There is one complaint from my end though. Separating the race into stages seems absurd. I was told there would be no math and the way it’s set up now seems too confusing in terms of the standings.
College Baseball: Close to History
The LSU Tigers were three outs from having a player in the history books. After last weekend’s no-hitter from Jared Poche, he came close to duplicating this performance and would have made him one of two pitchers in the history of baseball (or since no-hitters became recorded) to throw back-to-back no hitters. However, the first batter he faced hit a single that spoiled his bid at history. 15 innings not allowing a hit is still an amazing feat, but Johnny Vander Meer will remain the only pitcher to achieve the feat.
NBA: Boogie and the Brow
One of the biggest stories coming out of All-Star Weekend came right after the game when the Sacramento Kings traded away DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans, and some draft picks. Three games into the experiment, you’re already seeing that this could be huge for the Pelicans both now and in the future even though it hasn’t necessarily turned into wins. The race for eight is a little tough right now, but having Cousins is huge for their chances.
Lighter Side of Sports: Bill Walton Makes It Weird

I love Bill Walton. The man has incredible intelligence when it comes to basketball and great on commentary. He especially entertained me during the National Championship game when he rocked the Uncle Sam outfit and talked about numerous topics ranging from sports to political things.
During Saturday’s Kansas-Texas game, he decided to change one of his signature tye-dye shirts while on the air. There’s not too many people in the world of broadcasting who could get away with this and he might be one of them. Also, check out the woman’s facial expressions as he takes his shirt off to replace with a “Keep Austin Weird” shirt.
