The final performance by elephants in a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was held Sunday (May 1st) in Providence, Rhode Island, where six Asian elephants went through their paces for the last time. The famous circus has had elephants as part of the show for more than 100 years, but decided to end the practice under pressure from animal rights groups and in response to Americans’ changing attitudes. Ringling’s herd of 40 elephants will now live at the circus’ 200-acre Center for Elephant Conservation in Florida. Will you miss the elephants performance at the circus?
