I’ve been so fortunate to be able to attend so many music festivals, and now, more than just enjoying the show for myself, I get to cover the good times for the folks back home.
Hangout Fest is in Gulf Shores, AL, about a 5 hour drive from Lafayette and as you can see from the photos, 3 of the 5 stages are right on the beach. So there are some things you should be warned about if you ever want to go:
1-The Sun is not playing around, wear plenty of sunscreen or wear long sleeves cause there is very little shade.
2-Unless you have special circumstances, like ADA and/or a media pass ;), the most you can bring in is a small fanny pack or clear backpack, and there are lots of restrictions on items, just to name a few; no spray sunscreen, no opened packs of cigarettes, no vape pens, no fold-up chairs, and no selfie sticks.
3-Like with most music festivals, expect to pay a lot for parking or to walk a lot. And be prepared to walk a lot inside, sometimes inevitably through thick powdery sand.
4-Being properly prepared is a large part of enjoying yourself if you’re going for an all-day festival.
The line-up for this year was pretty epic, there were so many amazing shows many ended up being at the same time, so we had to prioritize and make what we reasonably could, but I got great footage of:
Day 1: Tash Sultana, Cold War Kids, Portugal. The Man, and The Killers
Day 2: Bleachers, AWOLNATION, Bahamas, Manchester Orchestra, Halsey and The Chainsmokers
Day 3: AJR, Slightly Stoopid, NF, Foster the People, Grouplove, and Odesza
That’s 16 performances with videos and pictures, a few scenery pics and a few pics of my boyfriend Mike and I. I hope you enjoy the pics even a little bit as much as we enjoyed Hangout Fest. Thanks to the folks at Hangout, Delta Media Corp. and 106.3 Radio Lafayette for this opportunity.
