ULL Homecoming Week! 10/26-10/31
All week, Ragin’ Cajuns will be celebrating Homecoming 2015 by showcasing their spirit with events like Ragin’ Cajun Karaoke, Cajuns Can Care Food Drive, the Homecoming Pep Rally Yell Like Hell, and the annual homecoming parade! Check out some of the highlights for homecoming week listed below!
Festivities for foodies and karaoke lovers alike take place on Monday, October 26th starting with the Allons Manger: Food Truck Round-Up at the Alumni Center from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Some grub I am looking forward to is Taco Sisters and Busters Custard. I may or may not require someone to roll me into class after. Other food trucks expected are Brain Freeze Snowballs, Blanchard’s BBQ, C’est Bon Manger, The Bus Stop, The Rock House Kitchen Co., Madluann’s, Rice Kings, Kona-Ice of Acadiana, Cacklin Hens, Sa Shay (accessories), and Chef Gregory.
Monday at 6:00 PM, catch some students sing their little hearts out for Ragin’ Cajun Karaoke at Blackham Coliseum. Everyone is welcome to attend this event! Only current students are allowed to register to participate. A little karaoke is good for the soul! Follow this link for more information by clicking here!
Is your favorite word free? We have that in common! Treat yourself to some free cake and punch from University Program Council on Tuesday, October 27th at 12:15 near the Student Union on the plaza! A spirit banner can be signed also for the football team. UL Lafayette students, faculty, and staff are welcome.
Tuesday night, students can either watch a Halloween themed movie on the Student Union plaza at 7:00 PM or ignite their Halloween spirit by attending the UL Symphony 20th Annual Halloween Concert starting at 7:30 PM at Angelle Hall Auditorium. This event is free for all UL students, faculty, and staff with I.D. and for those 17 and younger. A general admission fee for adults is $8 and will benefit the UL-Lafayette Orchestra Program. A little storm trooper told me to expect some John Williams Star Wars (episode 4) music and guest appearances from the Star Wars Rebel and 501st Legions. Costumes are welcome! For a list of more music selections and information, call the UL School of Music at (337) 482-6012 or check out their link by clicking here!
Donate non-perishable food items to Food Net Acadiana to help local food pantries for the upcoming holiday season on Wednesday, October 28th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM! Everyone is welcome to drop off donations at the Alumni Center (front drive way) for the Cajuns Can Care Food Drive.
The Homecoming Pep Rally Yell Like Hell will take place Thursday, October 29th at 6:30 PM at the Student Union courtyard. Expect some music, performances, and RAGIN’ CAJUN SPIRIT! AIYEE!
Homecoming festivities continue Friday, October 30th at 5:30 with Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band at Parc Sans Souci for Downtown Alive!, NPHC Greek Step Show at the Heymann Center starting at 7:00 PM, and the 2015 UL Homecoming concert “Globetrotting & Homecoming: A Musical Tour of 7 Continents.” in Angelle Hall Auditorium at 7:30 PM. Don’t miss Fanfare for the Great Hall commemorates the 50th anniversary of the opening of Angelle Auditorium, highlights from UL Composer-in-residence, Quincy Hilliard, and a Lafayette Strong tribute. This concert is free to the public.
Homecoming Day! The annual homecoming parade will take place on Saturday, October 31st starting at 10:00 AM at Blackham Coliseum and will end on St. Mary Blvd. by the Alumni Center. Appearances include the Pride of Acadiana, the homecoming court, Dr. Savoie, and many more!
