Pets are curious, and they don’t know which items or foods are potentially harmful or fatal, so it’s up to us to protect them. Over the years, I’ve lived in homes with pets, but this is my first experience as a solo pet owner, so I’ve been reading up on pet safety and health. A lot of folks insure their pets. Nationwide has released a list of the most common holiday pet insurance claims.
Ingestion of foreign objects like tinsel, ribbons & ornaments tops the list. That’s followed by toxicity frm alcohol, caffeine & chocolate. Next on the list is poisoning from plants like mistletoe, holly & pine needles. Then, there’s burns from candles & electric shock from chewing cords. As you can surmise, it’s recommended that you place these items out of your pet’s reach. Having your beloved pooch or cat sick, injured, or worse, would certainly ruin your holiday. Keep your pet(s) safe & have a happy holiday!
