When you normally saw The Bat-Signal it was when trouble was brewing in Gotham City and it signaled for the Caped Crusader to speed out of the Batcave to defeat a villain or two. However, tonight in Los Angeles people will see the legendary signal once again but to pay tribute to the one and only Adam West!
West passed away last Friday after a short battle with leukemia. The actor was 88, and recently published a book containing self-made art, and teamed up with Burt Ward and Julie Newmar for an animated Batman movie.
The City of Angels will honor the late, great Adam West by illuminating the Bat-Signal for those wanting to pay their respects to TV’s original Batman. Mayor Eric Garcetti and L.A. Police Department Chief Charlie Beck will preside over the ceremony. The public is welcome to attend, and will start at 9PM at City Hall.
West’s family also encourages fans who can’t attend the event tonight to donate to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The tribute will culminate with two episodes of Batman at 12AM | 11C and an episode of The Outer Limits at 1AM | 12C.
