How many of you have witnessed at least one woman or five prancing around an event of whatever kind fabulously dressed but barefoot? It happens all too often. I totally get why the heels have come off an hour or two into the festivities, their feet are killing them! And I can tell you that NOTHING is worse than when your feet hurt. You can’t even think. So how are you supposed to enjoy yourself when all you’re thinking of is how your throbbing tootsies are probably turning into swollen, purple sausages? As a woman, we’ve all been there.
However, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually taken my heels off at an event in all my 37 years of life. Reason being that I was always pretty girlie so practicing walking in my mom’s heels was something I did from a young age and so I was fairly seasoned by the age of 12 or so.
As I got older and started dressing up to attend dances, putting on my heels was my favorite part. I knew early on that comfort was key. Knowing how to walk in heels was essential and I was NEVER going to ruin my outfit by taking off my heels! In my mind that looked terrible!
It screamed, “Hey I really wanted to wear these heels because I thought they looked fierce but then I realized I sucked at wearing them so I took them off!”.
I also feel sorry for a girl when she does keep the heels on but, bless her, poor baby absolutely cannot walk in them. In those cases, I’d advise her to keep practicing at home until she’s comfortable and then strut her stuff like a boss down the boulevard!
You see, not only does removing your heels look bad but you’re exposing your feet to all kinds of things nasty that could take up residence between your toes, under your toenails or worse…your bare feet could get heeled by Susan’s aunt Florence out on the dance floor!
