Lafayette now issuing same-sex marriage licenses…

The Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court’s Office has begun issuing same-sex marriage licenses.

Clerk of Court Louis Perret said his office, as of 1:30 p.m. Monday, began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couple.

Despite a U.S. Supreme Court decision Friday, clerks of court in Louisiana did not immediately issue marriage certificates to same-sex couples.
