2020 has brought us a lot of changes so it is no surprise that New Orleans’ will celebrate Mardi Gras a little different this year.

According to the mayor’s website: “Parades of any kind will not be permitted this year because large gatherings have proven to be super spreader events of the COVID-19 virus.”

The city cannot cancel Mardi Gras because it is a religious Holiday, however the celebrations will be different this year.

Some Krewes will be holding modified Mardi Gras Balls but they will be following strict local COVID-19 guidelines. Attendance will be by invitation only.

Mardi Grad parties held at private homes are subject to local and state COVID-19 guidelines.
