New Rubik’s Cube World Record

I’ve gotten close to solve one of these Rubik’s Cube before but, only after it took me quite some time to even get close to doing so… teenager Collin Burns doesn’t seem to have that issue at all.

At the World Cube Association competition Saturday, Burns smashed the world record for the fastest solution of a 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube, completing the puzzle in just 5.25 seconds.

The video attached shows his performance at the competition held in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Burns’ mind boggling performance was three-tenths of a second faster than the previous record of 5.55 seconds held by Dutchman Mats Valk.

Once the clock starts, you see Burns get to work and then moments later, you can hear the other competitors erupt in astonishment.

Last year a Lego robot solved a cube in 3.253 seconds.

A Rubik’s Cube can hold 43 quintillion different positions.
