Anyone living in parishes that have been deemed disaster areas could qualify for Operation Blue Roof.

Operation Blue Roof is a mission managed by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. They will provide homeowners and rental properties with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover damaged rooftops until arrangements for repairs are made. The Blue Roof will protect the property and allows residents to live inside the home.

The Louisiana Parishes that qualify are Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis, and Vernon. Residents in these parishes can use a smartphone to sign up at www.usace.army.mil/BlueRoof or by calling 888-ROOF-BLUE (888-766-3258)

Residents will have to sign a “Right of Entry” Form that will allow workers and contractors to access the damaged property and install materials. The roof must be equipped with standard shingles. The home also must be the primary residence of the homeowner. The roof damage must have less than half of the structural damage.
