ROYAL TEETH RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE “NEVER GONNA QUIT” FROM THEIR UPCOMING TENTATIVELY TILED NEW RELEASE ‘HARD LUCK’
I’ve been back and forth with South Louisiana favorites Royal Teeth for quite some time about what they have been up too and when we would get the new music I know they have been putting their heart and soul into to… well, today my patience has finally paid off as they have announced their return with the anthemic new single “Never Gonna Quit” along with an accompanying music video that features Valerie Sassyfrass of the viral sensation “Girl’s Night Out” performance showcased previously on Ellen. The band has also shared with me that fans can expect touring later in 2018 and more music leading up a new album.
What’s great is I got the exclusive on what the new album release is tentatively going to be titled… ‘Hard Luck’
The forthcoming record marks Royal Teeth’s long overdue comeback to indie rock, with a progression in their sound that exudes energy and conviction. Taking it back to 2013, their bubbly hit single “Wild” was riding alternative radio waves across the nation and getting tons of clicks with their slow-burning, electrified music video. Now, five years later, things have changed for the band – everyone has situated into lifestyles and careers outside of the music industry. But these life experiences generated a spark for the band. Feeling inspired to create songs with a fresh sound and a new perspective, the quartet whole-heartedly decided to band together for another record.
“We didn’t want to reference anything we had done before. We needed to move on and figure out what we are today,” vocalist Gary Larsen recalls. “It took a few months to figure out what that meant, but something finally switched inside of me. We started writing like crazy. We were telling our own story of struggle and perseverance, and everything began to make sense. The music began to flow,” Larsen continues.
“Never Gonna Quit”, which premiered via Baeble yesterday, is the trademark motto for the band.
“It became the mission statement for the whole album,” explains Larsen. “It felt like we just hit restart. We love that you can feel the aggression and the sense of urgency, but it never loses its purpose or joy.”
In the video, Sassyfrass roams around town on a personal mission to spread music and radiate positivity. Initially, her unsuspecting audiences are stunned by the performance and not sure how to react. By the end though, due to Sassyfrass’s resilient nature, everyone takes heed to the notion and joins in on the party. “Never Gonna Quit” is available now to stream at XX or see the video on YouTube, and fans can connect on socials via the hash-tag #NVRGNAQT.
Royal Teeth is composed of singer and guitarist Gary Larsen, singer Nora Patterson, guitarist Thomas Onebane, and drummer Josh Hefner.
