Last night the Roots – Soul – Country Blues musician Sturgill Simpson performed a cover of the Nirvana song “In Bloom,” which appears on his album new album “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth” on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. This is Simpson’s third album and according to Spin.com “it is shaping up to be his most successful. The new project may sell approximately 45,000 equivalent album units in its debut week and top the Billboard 200, according to reports.” I’m digging on it… kinda takes a minute to get into it but, I dig his take on it on Kurt’s lyrics and the music arrangement. He says that this song is a letter to his infant son and tells Trevor Noah that it has to due with the lyrics… He explains it wayyy better than I ever could in the other video below so, check that out and then you get a bonus performance of another song which is pretty slamming called, “Call To Arms.”
