The next time you visit the Kisatchie National Forest you could see higher prices, maybe. The US Forest Service is proposing to increase fee prices for the forest just outside of Fort Polk. This matter is still being discussed and the public’s input is encouraged. According to officials, the current rate is too low and needs to be raised to meet the costs of services and amenities the park offers. The lead supervisor, Lisa Lewis, stated in a press release that they want visitors to have the best possible experience and they believe this the higher rate will help better maintain the park. Shanna Ellis, the program manager of the Kisatchie National Forest, said they are seeing more visitors and more money will help meet the demand.
Below is a list of the proposed changes. After they hear from the public the Forest Service will analyze the feedback and make a decision based on the comments received from the public.
