Marian Hill… sounds like a girl’s name… and I’m sure it is – but this Marian Hill is a duo from Philadelphia, made up of vocalist Samantha Gongol, and producer Jeremy Lloyd.
Their music combines Gongol’s seductive, often electronically altered vocals, with sparse electronic beats, synth, and sultry saxophone. In 2013 they released “Whisky”, followed by their first EP, Play, and a 7″ single, Lips.
They began getting a lot of attention after collaborating with Romanian pop star Inna on her song “Diggy Down,” which used the hook from Marian Hill’s song “Got It.” Once they were signed in early 2015, they released their 7 song EP Sway.
Here’s the video for “One Time” from Sway.
Their full-length debut album, Act One, featuring the single “Down” (the one that you’ve been hearing on 106.3) was released in 2016, check out the video below!
Also from Act One, “I Want You” is another great track featuring Gongol’s polished pop/R&B vocals built around synth and robotic beats… but that dancing tho!
