The Launch Box featuring Warpaint

Warpaint is a Los Angeles based, all-female quartet whose music can be described as sparse, atmospheric “art rock.” The original line-up began with sisters Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass) and Shannyn Sossamon (drums), as well as Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman on vocal and guitar. Sossamon was also persuing an acting career at the time, and eventually left because of schedule conflicts. She was replaced by a new drummer, Stella Mozgawa. This dedicated lineup enabled the band to experiment with their sound, which got the attention of former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.
In 2009, they self-released their debut EP, Exquisite Corpse (which was mixed by Frusciante). Here is the music video for Elephants from the Exquisite Corpse EP
They signed with Rough Trade and set to work recording their full-length debut, The Fool, released in October of 2010. This is the video for “Bees” from The Fool.
And what band discography is complete without a self-titles song? Here is the song “Warpaint” – oddly enough from The Fool… not from the self-titled album that followed.
After taking a few years to follow up their debut and citing their desire to experiment more with sounds and really connect as a group, the band released the lead single from Warpaint album “Love Is to Die,” which was featured on a Calvin Klein advert in September 2013.
Their eponymous Warpaint album followed in early 2014. Here is a really cool video for track 7 from Warpaint – “Disco//Very”
