LISSIE My Wild West (Thirty Tigers) My Wild West is the 3rd studo album by American singer-songwriter Lissie, scheduled to be released this Friday. It is being released under her own label, Lionboy, together with Thirty Tigers. It’s her most personal album to date; a fitting tribute to Lissie s life in California, from her arrival as a fresh-faced singer-songwriter to now, leaving for the Midwest wiser and more self-assured. Bookended by the songs Hollywood and Ojai, it brings out the two extremes of the past decade the dashed hopes and heartbreak of the former and the stability, joy and peace of the latter. My Wild West represents both a new beginning and a return to Lissie’s Midwestern roots. In anticipation of the album, a music video for the promotional single “Hero” was released back in November. www.lissie.com
SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS SVIIB (Vagrant) SVIIB is School of Seven Bells fourth and final studio album. Founding member Alejandra Deheza best describes the record, recorded with other founding member Benjamin Curtis who sadly passed away from lymphoma in 2013. Deheza says in a statement posted on their website that, “Benjamin and I wrote this record during a tour break in the summer of 2012. I can easily say that it was one of the most creative and inspired summers of our lives. What followed was the most tragic, soul shaking tidal wave that life could deliver, but even that wouldn’t stop the vision for this record from being realized. This is a love letter from start to finish. It’s the story of us starting from that first day we met in 2004, and that’s the story of School of Seven Bells. So much love to all of you. Thank you for being a constant light in our lives. This record is for you.” A fun fact about SVIIB is that the band is named after a mythical South American pickpocket training academy of the same name. www.sviib.com
