Available The Week Of October 16

CHRIS WALLA (formerly of Death Cab for Cutie) Tape Loops (Trans) His new solo instrumental album scheduled to be released October 16, 2015The record, inspired by physical tape manipulation, is quite a soothing, tranquil and reflective listen. It’s also one Walla says was “more satisfying” and “weirdly therapeutic” to create. Myspace

‘Goodbye’ came about the time I told the band I was leaving and everybody was sad but everybody understood. It was clear we needed to figure this out and everybody needed to carve a path forward. The thing about it is, despite anyone’s best intentions or expectations it’s just sloppy and weird and you don’t always get what you want or what you think you should get in terms of emotional satisfaction or closure.

I left the band and I don’t have any regrets about it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not difficult or not without challenges. Myspace

JOSH RITTER Sermon on the Rocks (Thirty Tigers) Produced by Ritter and Trina Shoemaker (Queens of the Stone Age, Emmylou Harris), Sermon On the Rocks was recorded in two weeks at The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans with the help of his Royal City Band. It is Josh’s most confident, freewheeling record to date.

“I wanted to make something grand. I wanted it to swing hard. I wanted to peek through deaths keyhole. I wanted my monster to run.” -Josh Ritter Amazon

Over the course of his acclaimed career, Ritter has released seven full-length albums, including his most recent, 2013s The Beast In Its Tracks, which debuted at #22 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the Top Rock Albums chart. Amazon

HBO placed a track from his 2002 album The Golden Age of Radio for the end credits in their series Six Feet Under. iTunes

SWEET SPIRIT Cokomo (Nine Mile) Debut studio full-length — Fresh from a 7″ collaboration with Britt Daniel and subsequent tour opening for spoon, Austin band sweet spirit are releasing their debut studio full-length Cokomo on October 16 on nine mile records. The band is showcasing at CMJ music marathon in New York City as part of their eastern U.S. Promo tour. Nine Mile Records

Sweet Spirit’s sound reflects an intimate and reverential familiarity with American pop, illustrating the emotional tribulations of this year and yesteryear. Delivered in sultry harmonies with as many guitars as possible, Sweet Spirit gives exuberant voice to the struggles of loving and living. Facebook
