Christmas can be such a joyful time of year. It can also be a time of heartbreaking disappointment. Imagine coming home from a holiday trip to find you’ve been robbed. The folks at CNET have some tips for protecting your home. First, make sure all doors & windows are locked. That’s just the beginning. An old friend of mine used to say “Locks just keep an honest man honest.” Most burglaries are committed at night. A well lit home isn’t the most attractive target. Motion activated lighting is a good, affordable idea. Be sure your security devices are fully charged. Don’t leave valuables out. If you have a safe, lock up jewelry and other valuables. Don’t leave laptops, tablets & gaming devices in plain sight. It’s a good idea to ask a neighbor to watch your home. If you know them well, ask them to pick up your mail. These tips should help you avoid the shock of coming home to a disaster.
