Who Makes The Best King Cake In Acadiana?

Posted by dylanguillory on February 6, 2020 in Featured

If you want to get into a heated debate, ask anyone around your office who makes the best king cake in Acadiana. Every one in Acadiana has their favorite place to buy a king cake.

You don’t have to look far to find the oval purple, gold and green cake which is a tradition during the carnival and festival season. If you don’t want to be exposed to the cake, the best advice is to leave Louisiana. During the festival season, you’ll find king cake as a dessert, at the local coffee shop, on the menu’s at local restaurants and even at the big box stores.

Sure you can find a king cake anywhere during the festival season, but if you are going to spend your hard-earned money for a king cake for yourself, one that you will savor and enjoy where would you go?

I have to admit, I’ve already discovered some delicious king cakes across Acadiana by mistake. And what I mean is, for example, I was going to eat dinner at a friend’s house after he invited me. He lived in Indian Bayou. While driving to his house I was thinking of how cool it would be to bring something. I was raised that you never show up empty-handed for a dinner invitation.

I knew they drank, I don’t drink. How selfish I know, but why bring alcohol, after all, I knew that had cabinets of booze plus I’d like to bring something I can also enjoy. Yes, I know, you’re thinking how selfish. It was during the festival season so I decided to stop at a small bakery in Rayne and they had king cakes. Not only did they have king cakes, but they also had blueberry king cakes. SOLD! I was hoping the host of the party liked blueberry because I sure love blueberry anything!

We all enjoyed the king cake and after the kids got a hold of the cake, the cake plate was cleared. The point is a really good king cake can be found anywhere. We all have our go-to place to purchase the best king cake ever. Then we also know of places who serve some mediocre king cakes.

With that idea rolling around in your head, you knew this was coming, We want to know in your opinion who makes the best king cake in Acadiana?
