The Grand 16 Theatre on Johnston Street will re-open in 7 days, at 7 p.m. on November 19th, almost five months after the tragic shooting that killed 2 Acadiana women and injured 9 others. Lafayette Parish President , Durel says the movie theater has been completely remodeled, from the carpeting to the ceilings, and everything on the walls, seating, concession stands. For Mellow Mushroom Front of House Manager Rebecca Vickers, the silence is defining. Vickers said “The only way we are going to be able to move on is for them to reopen and for families to come out and enjoy movies again.”
Opening night will start with a double feature showing of Hunger Games: Mocking Jay -Part 2 . Tickets are available now. Celebrate the Grand 16’s re-opening & enjoy a delicious meal and great atmosphere at Mellow Mushroom before or after the movie.
