April 21
1967 – The Beatles finished recording Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at Abbey Road Studios in London.
April 22
1991 – The Dave Matthews Band played their first live show at the Earth Day festival in Charlottesville, Virginia.
April 23
1994 – Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell topped the chart in the U.S., spending nearly a month in the top spot.
April 24
1996 – After being forced to cancel shows, Stone Temple Pilots issued a statement saying that lead singer Scott Weiland has “become unable to rehearse or appear for these shows due to his dependency on drugs. He is currently under a doctor’s care in a medical facility.” Weiland sees this as a betrayal, and his relationship with his bandmates turns rocky.
April 25
1994 – Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys was sentenced to 200 hours of community service for attacking a TV cameraman during the memorial services for actor River Phoenix the previous November.
April 26
1994 – Live released their third album, Throwing Copper. Recorded with producer Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads at Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls, it is the band’s best-selling release. Singles include “Selling the Drama,” “I Alone,” “Lightning Crashes,” “All Over You,” and “White, Discussion.”
