Anyone Else Having Trouble Getting To Sleep?

Ever have trouble going to sleep? I’m sure you know that work, school, family, finances… ALL those things can tend to cause stress and also make it harder to go to sleep. My mind races with all kinds of ideas, new music, design, work, etc… when attempting to go to sleep. I end up planning my day as I try to drift off. I find I have trouble shutting my brain off when I know I need to go to bed so, I can wake early to come hang with you all in the mornings On-Air 🙂 Lately I’ve been trying to stay off the phone / social media at least an hour and a half before I finally go lay down. I’ve heard all that stimulation can make your mind go over board. That mixed with stress can certainly cause your brain to stay awake and that can keep your eyes open. My boss shared a few tips with me from an article that they saw recently to help put your brain at ease and help you get a better night’s rest. They include:

-Trying some relaxation exercises such as meditation or yoga. — Not sure about yoga but, maybe stretching can help.
-Take deep breaths as you close your eyes.
-Eliminate excess light in the room from night lights to the little red power light on the TV.
-Try smelling something lavender. Studies have shown the smell of lavender can help relax the body.

Click here for more techniques and information from the full article.

I think the wife has one of those lavender bags laying around… I’ll have to try that and see if it works.
