The last few years has brought on a debate about the state of professional wrestling. As you know, I’m a huge fan of it and have been since I was a kid.
One of the biggest debates is the style of wrestling in the independent scene. Former wrestler Rip Rogers recently took to Twitter complaining about how there’s not enough selling and too many moves targeting the head and neck area. He also ended it with the phrase “………………………dive.”
While there are some points to be taken from this diatribe that should be taken under consideration, it just sounds like the old guard hating on changes that the industry has gone through.
We’ve moved from these former football players and giants to having much more athletic and smaller guys. If we’re talking about straight up workrate, this is the best era of wrestling because of how many five star matches we’ve seen. Just look at Omega vs Okada or Will Ospreay vs Ricochet from last year’s Best of the Super Juniors and tell me that you would rather watch a
