Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that causes the skin to lose color resulting in white patches. It affects 1 percent of the world’s population. The Vitiligo patient’s immune system will destroy the melanocytes. The melanocytes are the cells responsible for the pigment of the skin and hair. It is not contagious and can impact any race or gender at any age.
