Lafayette’s Electric Seed is the brainchild of Dwight J. Roy, taking the ethos, earthiness, and technical skill of the blues and breathing life back into its old bones. Roy (guitar and vocals) has been hard at work in the studio for a while now with his band mates Edward Coussan (bass) and Zach Rhea (drums) working on not one, but two musical projects. They have been recording over at Staffland Studios in Lafayette and says “I can’t wait to share the entire album with everyone. It’s a real treat to walk into the studio on day one with songs that you thought were complete, and then to have those songs transformed and taken to new dimensions and heights by talented dudes like Chris Stafford and Zach Rhea.”
One of their projects is nearing completion and it’s entitled “In My Blood,” which is the full embodiment and purest form of Electric Seed’s sound, attitude, ethos, and soul to date. The album cover features Roy as a child with his mother, Gina Barras, holding him.
Today the Electric Seed has decided to release their first single, the title track of “In My Blood,” and ALL proceeds they receive from this song will go toward the GiveForward fundraising effort that is currently raising money to pay for Charlene Shunick current medical expenses. Roy states “It is no secret how much I love this beautiful woman… Please donate because every bit helps, and everyday fighters like her deserve a measure of rest and a helping hand.”
