Derrick Savoie is a Lafayette based singer-songwriter that draws influences ranging from folk to rock to even bluegrass. Lyrically driven and ambient are things that come to mind when listening to some his music in which sounds a mix between the likes of Ray Lamontagne, Hozier, and The Head & The Heart. You may have also heard or seen him with his other band, Foxfire, but with this new project he is looking to show a different side and take the plunge on being a solo artist.

About the EP & about Bella Roo from Derrick:
“The EP will be a 6 song (maybe 7 song) EP will be titled Bella Roo. The songs will have a central theme of heartbreak and loss, and coping with these things. I got the inspiration for the album after a very tough break-up, when I was at a very low point. For me writing has always been the best therapy and these songs have help me to rise up from the low point that i was at. The writing for my solo project is much more intimate and personal than some of the things I write for Foxfire. This is especially show in Bella Roo, in which I wrote in a weird spot where a relationship is in the process of ending and not quite over, but you know that the end is inevitably coming kind of thing. For awhile I almost decided not to record any of them just because they meant so much to me and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to even share them with anyone. I eventually decided that it would be a regret not to record them, and meeting Sean Bruce kind of persuaded that decision. Like i said since these songs were very intimate to me i was very timid to record them and if i did, I wanted to be in a perfect setting. When Sean approached me about being a part of the Norwood Recording Group I became intrigued and after about an hour or so of talking about music, ideas, interest, and Gregory Alan Isakov, I knew Norwood was a perfect fit for me. We’re still in the very early stages of the recording process, so I don’t have a set date for the album yet, but I’m trying to shoot for sometime mid to late next year.”
