So, apparently there’s a new trend in Wisconsin… Wedding cakes made out of cheese… and no, NOT cheesecake… we’re talking wheels of cheddar and other cheeses stacked and decorated to look like a wedding cake! Ummm… maybe if I were a “Wisconsonian” I’d find this appealing… but I’m just saying, when it looks like sugary goodness about to hit my tongue… it BETTER be sugary sweet. Nothing against cheese, I just want my sugar fix.
“A lot of people are kind of taken back at first, like, ‘Is that made out of cheese?’” according to the owner of Fromagination – which is like the coolest play on words, “fromage” which is French for cheese, and “imagination”.
The cheese wheels are decorated to look just like wedding or other cakes you might buy to celebrate something, and they’re becoming pretty popular.
While there’s room for creativity, there is a down side – some kinds of cheese don’t work as well as others. And if you get a soft cheese in there, it could get messy if it’s served outside on a hot day.
Apparently the idea can be traced back to England, but how appropriate that its found a new home in Wisconsin, land of the cheeseheads, and home of the world’s best cheese.
