Well, another Wizard World has come and gone in the city of New Orleans. It was filled with celebrities, collectables, comics, cosplay, and cereal! It was filled with lots of big celebrities this year including: Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Joe and Anthony Russo, Jeremy Renner, William Shatner, Anthony Mackie, Bruce Timm, and Edward James Olmos. The new layout for the convention was nice and from my chats with several of the artists, vendors, and guests they enjoyed it.
So, I happen to find the “Superhero Cereal”… it was one of the first things you ran into when entering the convention floor. The line for the new superhero cereal to promote the new ‘Batman v. Superman’ movie was quite long but, I managed to score my box of the “Batman” cereal and received a nifty new Batman mask as well from the nice attendants working the booth.
As always, one of the fun parts about the comic-con is digging through the comic vendor long boxes to find a few gems to add to one’s collection. I found a few near mint Batman: Year One issues #2 and #4 to add to my collection. Also, I happened across a Swamp Thing #3 that I had yet to procure and is a nice addition to my collection as well.
I had the chance to check out a few of the panels this year. I enjoyed hearing from The Russo Brothers’ who are working on the new phases of Marvel films like, ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and the upcoming ‘Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2’. They seem to have it figured out from what they mentioned which wasn’t that much due to the fact they want what they have planned to be a surprise for the fans. Also, acclaimed artist/producer Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League) was in attendance. At his panel he briefly talked about a project he’s working on, the long awaited adaptation of the Alan Moore graphic novel Batman: The Killing Joke. If you’re not familiar with the book, Batman is in pursuit of the Joker after he gravely injures one of the Bat family. After the panel, he ended up doing a signing for the fans. I was so glad I ended up bringing a few items from my collection to get signed.
All in all, WWNOLA2016 was a great con even though I only had one day to spend at it this year. Cheers!
