The Umbrella Academy
This Netflix original series has a couple of faces you might recognize, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Mary J. Blige and Colm Feore.
The Umbrella Academy is a nice deviation from all of these superhero movies and now tv shows, this “hero” group has a few anti-heroes as well. The unique group of kids that make up the “academy” were brought together and raised by a very eccentric millionaire with questionable leadership skills, a robot nanny, and a talking monkey butler. The story is a bit illusive at times, taking great joy in not giving us a lot of backstory.
And the music. When the creator of the series is Gerard Way, former vocalist for My Chemical Romance, you can bet the music will be pretty legit. The soundtrack features:
