April 1st
1992 Nirvana’s single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” goes platinum while Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” is certified platinum.
1994 Kurt Cobain walked out of drug treatment after only three days. He died a week later from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
2003 White Stripes released their fourth album, “Elephant,” in the United States. The album featured their smash hit “Seven Nation Army”.
April 2nd
1983 – Pink Floyd’s “The Final Cut” hit number one in the UK. It reached #6 in the US and went double Platinum in 1997.
April 3rd
1989 – 23 people were arrested after thousands of people without tickets tried to crash a Grateful Dead concert in Pittsburgh.
April 4th
2007 – Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards issued a statement about his remarks in a magazine where he said that the strangest thing he ever snorted was his father’s ashes. “It was an off-the-cuff remark, a joke and it is not true. File under April Fools’ joke”.
